Musgrave Group is one of the largest food retail and foodservice companies on the island of Ireland, operating the SuperValu, Centra and MACE brands across hundreds of independent retailer partners. Its annual Store of the Year Awards is the centrepiece of the Musgrave retail calendar, a day that brings owners, staff and leadership together from across the country, opening with a retail conference and closing with an awards ceremony that recognises the best-performing stores in the network.
An event of this scale carries real commercial weight. The people in the room have invested years, sometimes generations, into their stores. The awards night has to feel worthy of that investment. It cannot look like a generic conference dinner with a slideshow. It has to feel like an event, with production values, creative identity, and a sense of occasion that those attending will remember.
Gone Rogue has delivered this event year on year, managing everything from the initial creative concept to the final curtain call.
Each year begins with a fresh creative concept that governs the look and feel of both halves of the day, from the invitations and pre-event communications through to the conference environment, the stage design, screen graphics, roll-up banners and table collateral on the night itself.
For the 2026 event, held at the Culloden Hotel, the creative direction leaned into an awards show aesthetic: dramatic stage lighting, a bold typographic identity, and a golden trophy motif that carried through every touchpoint. The ‘Store of the Year’ wordmark was designed to hold its own on a full-stage LED screen while also working at business-card scale on the invitation.
On the production side, Gone Rogue managed presentation design for the ceremony itself, coordinating category graphics, winner announcements and video content that played to a room of several hundred guests. The gold medal awards were also designed and produced as a physical deliverable that winners could display in their stores.
The result is a year-on-year event that has become a genuine fixture in the Northern Ireland and Irish grocery retail calendar. The consistency of production has raised the perceived prestige of the award itself, stores that win now display the medals prominently, which was the intention. For Gone Rogue, it is also a demonstration of long-term client relationship management: delivering the same standard of work repeatedly, across multiple years, for one of the most commercially important evenings in a major client’s year.
